Rauno Simola, an avid TMG user, has recently published an interesting article on tensiomyography’s reliability and prediction of changes in muscle force in the Sports Technology Journal. The study involved the analysis of the inter-day reliability of TMG muscle mechanical properties based on the amplitude of the muscle belly radial deformation, the time it takes to occur, and its velocity under maximal and submaximal stimuli in the muscles. Furthermore, an additional experiment investigated whether changes in maximal voluntary isometric contraction (MVIC) could be predicted based on changes in TMG properties following 24 hours after different squat training protocols. The results proved that TMG is a reliable method to assess muscle mechanical properties, particularly within maximal stimuli, and can be used for the prediction of changes in MVIC following heavy eccentric strength exercises.

Julio Tous Fajardo, the strength and conditioning coach of the Italian national football team, has presented how ‪‎tensiomyography‬ supports his decisions on the prevention of hamstring injuries at the 2nd International Global Hamstring Project” symposium, which was held at the end of November in Barcelona.‬‬

The aim of the study was to monitor in-season changes in the mechanical and neuromuscular characteristics of knee extensor and flexor muscles in professional soccer players. Twenty-one professional soccer players and sixteen non-soccer playing males were assessed with tensiomyography on two occasions: just after the start of the competitive season and 10 weeks later. The findings confirm that mechanical and neuromuscular characteristics change over time and also vary according to the characteristics of the athlete and the muscle analyzed. Soccer coaches could use Tc, Td, and Dm data (TMG parameters) to individualize the work load and intensity, and control the effects of neuromuscular training throughout the season using a portable, non-invasive technique that, unlike stress tests, does not cause fatigue and therefore does not interfere with training periodization. The Medyarthros clinic from Guadalajara, Mexico has obtained the TMG S1 system in order to provide injury prevention and RTP services to the local football club C.D. Guadalajara. Guadalajara is one of the best Mexican clubs and one of the ten founding members of the Mexican First Division. As Guadalajara is the only football club in Mexico to exclusively field Mexican players, it has developed an outstanding football school that has launched many internationally successful players.
