During our upcoming trip to the USA, we will organize workshops on Tensiomyography, an innovative muscle diagnostics used by international experts. The workshops will take place on December 10th at Athletes Performance Cary NC and on December 13th at Northeastern University, Boston MA. Send us an e-mail to reserve a place for you and your colleagues and receive complete event details.

We have returned from the Medica trade fair (Düsseldorf, Germany), the largest medical trade fair in the world where we have presented new developments in the field of MC method as well as our products based on the Tensiomyography. The trad fair was very successful as we have managed to attract large number of new research and distribution partners.

We are testing a TMG Cycling Research – a new application of our MC technology for cyclists. The sensor system simultaneously measures the pressure on the pedals and muscle/tendon activity of Vastus lateralis, Vastus medialis and patellar ligament on both right and left leg. On the video below you can see a segment of one of the tests done on Matej Mohorič, World Road Cycling Champion U23. The power was limited on 350 W while the frequency is 80 RPM. If you are interested in the application or have research proposals, please contact us on info@tmg.si

TMG100 tensiomyography is now also available with full support in South Africa. TMG-BMC recently formalized a distribution and representation agreement with Lifemax from Johannesburg. They are specialized in providing new technology products to professional working in sports, nutrition, health, fitness and medical fields. TMG100 tensiomyography was launched onto the South African market during the biannual SASMA conference. Senior consultant, Stef Harley presented on the multifunctional use of tensiomyography in elite sports. From the various responses we received we are confident TMG100 tensiomyography will have a definitive role in injury risk assessment, prevention and training and rehab optimization in key South African sports such as rugby, cricket, endurance sports and football. North-west University in Potchefstroom will soon be putting TMG100 tensiomyography to use in their sports science research.

Both TMG-BMC’s primary technologies – TMG100 tensiomyography and MC sensors – accurately measure the perpendicular forces generated by the radial displacement of a muscle belly during contraction. A recent study from the University of Washington’s Physiology and Biophysics department suggests our technologies describe crucial mechanical properties of skeletal muscle which more accurately explain the length tension relationships.

David Williams et al. propose a new model of contraction based on 3D sarcomere geometry in which actin and myosin are hexagonally packed. Results suggest that the radial distance between actin and myosin filaments – referred to as filament lattice spacing – may be responsible for up to 50% of the change in force seen between sarcomere lengths. The authors conclude that lattice spacing, which influences radial deformation of the muscle during contraction, is an important force regulator that increases the amplitude of muscles’ force-length dependence.

These important findings support the notion that during contraction, energy in muscle’s support structures is not only stored in the direction of force but also perpendicular to it, in the direction of the radial displacement of muscle. Both TMG100 tensiomyography and TMG PRO accurately describe the radial displacement of muscle during contraction and therefore provide crucial insights into mechanical properties of skeletal muscle on a systemic level and possibly provide a more accurate representation of skeletal muscle’s length tension relationships.

For the second time we will exhibit our muscle diagnostic solutions on Medica Trade Fair, the world‘s largest medical marketplace annually organised in November in Düsseldorf, Germany. You are invited to visit us in Hall 15, Booth C03 where we will present new product line based on innovative muscle diagnostic technology MC. You can find more information on Medica website.

We will be present at the SASMA conference in Durban, South Africa at the end of this month to highlight TMG100 tensiomyography. The presentation will be held on Saturday 26.10 between 12.30 and 13.00 in the Mzamba Room, where we will present the multifunctional use of tensiomyography in elite sports. For more information please drop by the Lifemax booth (TMG-BMC’s South African partners and TMG100 representatives) in the exhibition hall.

Our senior consultant Sergej is at the moment in the USA – at the University of Iowa where he is installing our TMG100 System. The High Performance Sports Centre at the University of Iowa provides a variety of services and solutions in the field of injury prevention and optimization of training protocols. As the main goal of the centre is the development of young athletes we are glad that our technology will contribute to the development of future champions.

In India TMG-BMC formalized a distribution and representation relationship with Fit and Spa Solutions of Bangalore. TMG100 tensiomyography was launched with a workshop in tensiomyography at the Recoup Neuro Musculoskeletal Rehab Clinic and numerous presentations and demonstrations for prominent experts in rehab, sports medicine and elite sports in Bangalore, Mumbai and Chennai. Given the intensity at which elite cricket is now being played in India and with hamstring injuries being so prominent in the sport, we are adement there is a place for TMG100 to aid in performance and injury prevention of elite cricket athletes. It is also evident that other sports such as soccer, tennis, badminton and field hockey are becoming more popular and prevalent.

TMG100 can play an important role in developing and monitoring new Indian talent in these sports fields. Likewise rehabilitation services are rapidly developing and expanding with many practitioners becoming aware that TMG100 offers an opportunity to make rehab processes more effective and efficient. Especially in the private rehab center keeping a step ahead requires an open mind for new technologies, and where better to start than at the very source of many problems, functional muscle diagnostics? With Fit and Spa Solutions, TMG-BMC is confident we have found the right partner, they already supply the Indian market with top brands in specialized fitness and wellness equipment. Their choice to carry TMG100 in their product range, completes their offer from muscle diagnostics to offering the very best in sports and rehab training. In the coming months more workshops and demonstrations are planned in Bangalore, Mumbai and Delhi.
